GENERAL
The Yellowedge Grouper (Hyporthodus flavolimbatus) inhabits deep waters along the edge of the continental shelf in the Gulf of Mexico. This species is characterized by a robust body and yellowish edges on its dorsal fins, which give it its name. Yellowedge groupers typically grow between 2 and 4.5 feet in length, weighing up to 50 pounds. They prefer muddy or sandy bottoms and are often caught using live bait or jigs. The firm, white flesh of the yellowedge grouper makes it a popular choice among seafood enthusiasts.
