GENERAL
The Tilefish (Lopholatilus chamaeleonticeps), also known as the golden tilefish, is a bottom-dwelling species known for its bright blue and yellow coloration. They inhabit deep waters, living in burrows they dig in sandy or muddy substrates at depths of 600-900 feet. Tilefish can grow up to 4.5 feet in length and weigh over 60 pounds. Anglers typically use deep-drop techniques to catch tilefish, which are highly valued for their mild, flaky meat that is a favorite among chefs.
