GENERAL
Barrelfish (Hyperoglyphe perciformis) are deep-sea dwellers, often found around wrecks or other structures at depths of 900-1200 feet. Their dark, slightly iridescent bodies can grow up to 3.5 feet in length and weigh over 30 pounds. Barrelfish are targeted using deep-water fishing techniques, particularly with squid or other deep-water baits. The meat is firm and white, resembling that of grouper, and is highly prized in the culinary world.
