THE GOA CREW

Louisiana Charter Captains

Experienced captains with deep roots in Louisiana fishing and a shared focus on running professional, well-prepared trips on the Gulf.

EXPERIENCE ON THE WATER

Experienced Captains. One Standard.

The crew at Gulf of America Outfitters is made up of captains who live and breathe fishing on the Louisiana Gulf Coast. Each brings a unique background and skill set to the operation, but every trip is run with the same focus on preparation, safety, and putting anglers on productive water.

Whether you’re fishing offshore, inshore, or on a seasonal trip, you can expect a professional experience led by captains who know these waters and respect the fishery.

Captain Joe Von Thron

Offshore Specialist | Louisiana Gulf Coast

Captain Joe Von Thron hails from Jacksonville, Florida and has built a career running fishing charters for over a decade. With experience spanning both coasts, Joe considers the North Central Gulf his home water.

During the fall and winter months, Captain Joe operates out of Venice, Louisiana, targeting oversized yellowfin tuna and other offshore species. During the summer season, he shifts operations to Port Fourchon to take advantage of the bottom fishing and exotic species fishery when conditions are at their peak.

In addition to his work with Gulf of America Outfitters, Joe spends part of the summer running trips with Down the Bayou Charters, continuing to pursue tuna in the canyons while capitalizing on diverse structure-oriented species.

Known for his versatility and deep respect for marine life, Captain Joe brings knowledge, consistency, and a steady presence to every trip, ensuring anglers experience the Gulf at its best.

Captain Chad Audibert

Offshore and Gulf Coast Veteran

Captain Chad Audibert grew up fishing the bayous of Louisiana and the Gulf of Mexico with his family. He began his offshore fishing career as a deckhand at just 14 years old and quickly realized fishing was his true calling.

While pursuing his education and earning a dual associate degree, Chad maintained his own charter service before working full-time as an instrument and electrical designer. Eventually, he returned to fishing full time and has now spent more than 16 years professionally fishing the Gulf of Mexico.

Early in his career, Captain Chad gained experience fishing in Cabo San Lucas, Costa Rica, and across much of the Gulf Coast from Port Mansfield, Texas to Destin, Florida. Today, he resides in Venice, Louisiana and is proud to be part of the Gulf of America Outfitters team, where he focuses on giving anglers a fishing experience they won’t forget.

Captain Kyle Bone

Louisiana Native | Venice Charter Captain

Captain Kyle Bone is a Louisiana native raised on the North Shore of Lake Pontchartrain, where his passion for fishing started early. Some of his first memories on the water include learning to throw a cast net from his grandmother in the backyard and catching crawfish in the Belle River with his dad before he could walk.

With more than 15 years of charter experience in Venice alone, Captain Kyle has built a reputation for running trips that leave a lasting impression. He believes the fishing finds you, not the other way around, and thrives in the balance between calm precision and controlled chaos that defines great days on the water.

Proud to be part of the Gulf of America Outfitters team, Captain Kyle considers himself an amateur, novice, and professional fisherman all at once — constantly learning, adapting, and chasing those brief moments that make fishing unforgettable.

Captain Tommy Pojer

Offshore and Trophy-Focused Guide

Captain Tommy Pojer was born and raised in the Czech Republic before relocating to the United States in the late 1990s. After playing semi-professional hockey in the northern U.S., he settled along the Gulf Coast shortly before Hurricane Katrina and eventually became a dual citizen in 2019.

Before guiding full time, Tommy spent over a decade working as a fine-dining chef, bringing discipline, attention to detail, and high standards into everything he does. His fishing career began in commercial fishing, progressed into tournament fishing, and later into guiding charter trips.

For seven years, Captain Tommy worked aboard mothership operations out of Biloxi, Mississippi, leading multi-day wade fishing expeditions at the Chandeleur Islands. Today, he guides anglers in Louisiana with Gulf of America Outfitters, specializing in targeting trophy fish and delivering trips built around experience and precision.
